Without Me

I can hear you upstairs lying on the phone
As I sleep in the basement down below
While you talk to him on the patio
You tell him goodbye, I've got to go
I think he's still home
Getting back to the only life I've known

And I think by now, that I should leave
So that you can go off where the grass in green
And play your make believe
Without me

I know its wrong
But I went through your messages
Just to see who he was
Had better been a man
Helping you get closer to the man above
And thats when I confronted you
Selfish with your words
You turned it all around on me
And it all became a blur..

And I think by now, that I should leave
So that you can go off where the grass in green
And play your make believe
Without me

A few months before
Everything was fine
Like an eagle on a par four
You made me feel so alive
but they say everything is about timing
Guess it wasn't our time in the lime lighting
Could have spared me from the heartache
Of staying up late, talkin' to your ex
After I left, back to the 918
I realize now, you weren't even worth pumpin on the brakes...

And I think by now, that I should leave
So that you can go off where the grass in green
And play your make believe
Without me

Its took me 2 years to write this
In memory of you
The girl I met on the internet,
That I once thought I knew
And when I couldn't take it anymo'
I hopped in my black Trans Am
Turned Kenny Loggins up on the radio
Can't Drive just 55
On my highway to the Danger Zone

And I think by now, that I should leave
So that you can go off where the grass in green
And play your make believe
Without Me
